I Dream in Rothko

I draw inspiration from several artists — Georgia O’Keefe, Wolf Kahn, Stephanie Johnson — but lately find Rothko especially captivating. It’s his belief in his own work, that it would “envelop” the viewer and provide them with a unique experience, that he was endeavoring into “unknown adventures in an unknown space”. that his work was an expression of human emotion - tragedy, ecstasy, doom, joy. Art is a gift of feeling, visual exhilaration, spirit, and space. It’s deeply personal. It transports us to other parts of our brains that aren’t tangible. It allows us to access the nebulous spaces beyond reality. This is why I dream in Rothko. Please enjoy him with me.
